The debris from people's businesses and homes is being unloaded to an ever-growing waste pile located at a recovery centre within Bottle Lake Forest Park. So far thousands of tonnes of waste has been trucked to the Burwood Resource Recovery Park, a former landfill, but operators Eco Central are expecting more than a hundred times over that. It is anticipated the park will see 8.5 million tonnes of detritus over the next few months, making it New Zealand's largest ever rubbish project. Robert Gerrie general manager at Eco Central told ONE News the wreckage was coming in at an astounding rate, and is likely to continue. "We'll see probably heavy involvement of trucks, perhaps one a minute for the next three to four months." They are expecting 2 million tonnes from the CBD, 2 million from the suburbs, 4 million of broken infrastructure, and half a million tonnes of silt.
